Two-plane automatic balancing: a symmetry breaking analysis
We present an analysis of a two-plane automatic balancing device for rotating machinery. The mechanism consists of a pair of races that contain balancing balls which move to eliminate imbalance due to rotor eccentricity or principal axis misalignment. A model is developed that includes the effect of support anisotropy and rotor acceleration. The symmetry of the imbalance is considered, and tech...

متن کاملTwo Loop R - Symmetry Breaking
We analyze two loop quantum corrections for pseudomoduli in O’Raifeartaigh like models. We argue that R-symmetry can be spontaneously broken at two loop in non supersymmetric vacua. We provide a basic example with this property. We discuss on phenomenological applications.
متن کاملAutomatic Generation of Symmetry-Breaking Constraints
Solution symmetries in integer linear programs often yield long Branch-and-Bound based solution processes. We propose a method for finding elements of the permutation group of solution symmetries, and two different types of symmetry-breaking constraints to eliminate these symmetries at the modelling level. We discuss some preliminary computational results.
متن کاملSymmetry breaking of in-plane order in confined copolymer mesophases.
Packing of spherical-domain block copolymer mesophases confined to a thin film is investigated as a function of the number of layers n. We find an abrupt transition from hexagonal to orthorhombic in-plane ordering of domains when n is increased from 4 to 5. As n increases further (up to 23 in this study), the symmetry of the orthorhombic phase asymptotically approaches that of the body-centered...
